Why real estate
I came to this from the creative side. I like light, I like rooms, and I like the small decisions that make a space feel welcoming. Real estate photography turned out to be the place where all of that has a job to do: help a realtor sell a house.
I shoot for agents across Thunder Bay and surrounding area, from starter bungalows to lakefront builds. Every one gets the same attention.
Setting the house
The thing I do a little differently is the ten minutes before I shoot. I walk each room with the realtor (or on my own with lockbox access) and make quick, respectful adjustments: pull a chair out of the window line, straighten the bed, clear a counter, turn on every lamp, open the blinds. Nothing gets moved that the seller wouldn’t want moved. It’s just enough that the photo shows the room, not the clutter.
If a listing needs more than a light touch, tell me ahead of time and I’ll plan for it.
How I shoot
Wide but not distorted. Bright but not blown out. Colours the way they look in person. I keep verticals straight, keep the view out the window, and edit by hand so that when a buyer walks in, the house looks like the photos.
